Whoa!!! Almost three months since I last posted. I apologize. For those that feared I was in a bad way -- never fear! My life has been dramatically improving, and I have not felt this good for years! I'm ready to get back into the swing of things and write, write, write. Painting is also on my 'to do' list, surprisingly enough. I've taken some very interesting photographs over the summer, and will be posting them soon. I also have several dreams to post, and they are stranger than my usual strange dreams. For those who know me--that's saying a lot!

For today, however, I have a very important subject I'd like to point your attention to. Diabetes. Millions of people suffer from Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes in this country. Just as many, if not more, are developing Type II at an exponential rate. My husband was diagnosed when he was just 16 months old. He almost died. He's 42 now, and the disease is finally taking a toll on his health. Four eye surgeries (and another one needed within the next year), kidney damage, autonomic neuropathy, high blood pressure, and edema are just some of what he's experiencing. He still works, but the quality of his life is slowly being eroded. I have type II diabetes, but fortunately for me, I've been able to control it with diet and exercise and metformin. Even under control, however, damage can occur to my kidneys and heart, so we are quite the pair, aren't we?

For the second year in a row, we are participating in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. I've met my personal goal, but we are still over 1/2 way from our team goal. While donations are gratefully accepted for up to a month after the walk, it would be thrilling to have a sudden influx of donations from generous people like you, happen today. It's easy to donate right online, at the secure fundraising site belonging to JDRF.org. Any amount will help, whether it's five or five hundred dollars.
