So I've moved once again. Still in the Old West End (barely), but ever so much closer to thrilling 'urban' activities. Such activities include: Pimp Patrol, Ho Runnin', Baby Mama Drama (matinee included), Drug Deal or No Deal (that was a joke: it's always deal), Gang Banger's Ball, and Casual Crip Fridays.

These activities seem to wear out some of the participants, and they decide to sit on our apt. steps and porch, and brazenly wave as I leave for work (a novelty in this neighborhood). I'm sure I'm on my way to being shot, but I just sit in the car and stare at them, eyebrow cocked, oozing contempt, and then give them my own wave, showing them where they can go. They sullenly get up, glare at me, wounded, and saunter away.

But I digress. Last Friday I took the garbage out to the curb, and on the sidewalk, near the tree, was a pile of something black. I stepped closer, wondering if it was a dead squirrel or bird, and beheld: a weave! I wondered if during some baby mama drama one of the lucky contestants was snatched bald-headed, or if one of the hooker's Johns got overzealous during his $5 bj.

I was too lazy to take a picture, so I went to Google Images and typed in "weave on sidewalk". I was expecting nothing. I was mistaken.

On Flikr alone, 162 images of weaves in the city have been uploaded. WTF?! Here's one from West Philly, a city labeled by the picture's owner as "The Capital of Abandoned Weaves."



Apparently this is a growing phenomenon.

I chose the shot that most closely resembled what is in front of my apt. building.

It's difficult to tell to whom it may belong, as the various "ladies" (lololololol) trol strolling along are sporting every style from Grace Jones to Macy Gray.

I think its presence on the sidewalk, in plain view of my cat, scares her.

I know it scares me.
